LAsers penetrate our skin and target specific skin care issues. There are lasers that stimulate collagen production for firmer skin and lasers that reduce the appearance of acne scars, rosacea, and sun damage. And the new AviClear laser is here to treat acne. It is the first FDA-approved energy device to treat mild, moderate, and severe acne. It’s so good at regulating the oil glands that it rivals popular acne prescriptions like Accutane and Tretinoin.

“AviClear Laser is the first laser ever to target diseased sebaceous glands,” explains Dr. Dennis Gross, a board-certified dermatologist in New York City. The problem with these glands is that the oil they produce is “too heavy for its own use. Instead of flowing like a liquid, it gets stuck.” When this oil gets stuck, it clogs pores and leads to acne. AviClear calms this overproduction of oil by targeting and suppressing the sebaceous glands.

In the latest episode of what wellness Ella Dove, Director of Creative Development at Well+Good, got to try AviClear. The treatment takes three 30-minute sessions, and we meet Dove during her third. “I’ve definitely seen my skin change,” Dove says in the video. “I feel like the breakouts I get now are smaller and they come and go [more quickly] because I don’t get this severe cystic acne.”
